Genesis Wave Encounters
Introduction
Genesis Wave Encounters were introduced with Rebirth Issue 6 and are the source of Coalesced Primordial Energy. The chance of encountering one is determined on a chance roll based on team size. A second roll determines the tier (strength) of the Genesis Wave Encounter and will result in: +1 to +3 level shifts and 1 to 3 stacks of Pandora Energy buffs.
Rewards
Rewards are dependent on the tier of the secondary roll with higher-level shifts granting higher rewards. They include:
- Incarnate Experience if your character is level 50.
- A large amount of influence.
- A Rare Recipe drop.
- One Pandora heal for the remainder of the mission
- One or more Primordial Energy buffs for the remainder of the mission each with the following effects
Draining the Altar
To drain the altar you need to activate the Absorb Primordial Energy power that will show up in your power tray when you stand within 10 feet of the Coalesced Primordial Energy altar. Once the altar is drained you and your allies will get the rewards.
Team Requirements
- Team must have at least one character that is either:
- At least level 50 or
- Has completed Chapter 3 of the Signature Story Arc Pandora's Box.
- A single player Genesis wave is possible, but probabilities increase with team size. Specific probabilities are not yet available.
Content Requirements
The following content has a chance to generate a Genesis Wave if team requirements are met:
- Any Task Force or Strike Force.
- A Legacy Task Force available in Ouroboros.
- The Ouroboros Task Forces: Twilight's Son Task Force (lvl 25-34), Mender Tesseract Strike Force (lvl 25-34), Mender Lazarus Task Force (lvl 30-39), Mender Silos Task Force (lvl 48-50).
- Police Radio/Newspaper missions (but not Safeguard/Mayhem missions for technical reasons).
- Genesis Encounters in these missions are limited to tier 1.
Developer Comment
- From Discord: Genesis Wave Encounters touched spawn definitions, mission scripting, powers creation, villain creation, reward tables, fx work, and Lua scripting. All for what amounts to a relatively simple encounter.
