I play exclusively on the Freedom server, though may branch out someday. RP-wise, I'm primarily interested in playing villains as tragic characters, though I will occasionally play my heroes to get a dose of goodness. Well, that and I have to get at least one to 50 anyway, since villains don't unlock the Epic archetypes!

I will also note, for the record, that both Diviner Maros and Archmage Tarixus are royal pains in the rear.

Origins

Nicole Sanselis wasn't always known as the villainess she has become. Nikki garnered fame at a young age, filling music halls with her heavenly voice, a voice for which Johnny Sonata would sell his soul for... again. As happens to many with a voice like hers, it was not very long before she gathered the attention of entities more powerful than any human. One in particular, a magic hero named Iceberg, took her under his wing.

In a world where she was under constant threat from greedy mortals, who sought the beauty for her "potential", and from powerhungry immortals, who believed that a mortal with her qualities must be of divine descent, Iceberg was her defender. Asked by her parents to watch over the young woman as she made her way in the world, Iceberg protected Nikki wherever she went. Unfortunately, the hero became smitten with the young woman, and, as a means of showing his love for her without expressing it, Iceberg began teaching Nikki about manipulation of the elements.

During this tutelage, which Iceberg knew was merely an excuse to be closer to her, he discovered that Nikki did indeed seem to have some lost heritage, for it was quickly apparent that her ability to control the elements was far greater than his own. Whereas he depended upon magical amulets and trinkets to maintain control of ice, Nikki was able to do magically function simply by the will of her spirit. Realizing she was a true adept, Iceberg began looking for ways to help Nikki improve even more.

Months passed, and Nikki and Iceberg became very close friends. Sadly, though, the hero's feelings were not reciprocated by his young protege, and he became increasingly frustrated. One day, the hero snapped, and he lashed out violently at Nikki. Forgetting that he was a hero, and succumbing to his own desires, he declared that he would have her, or he would destroy her. Forced to defend herself against this powerful hero, fighting for her very life, a dormant power awoke within her. Where Iceberg had only taught her the ability to control ice, she discovered that an energy within also enabled her to control fire.

And so Nikki, betrayed and enraged by Iceberg's assault, unleashed the full fury of her power on him. When it was over, Iceberg was no more. Distraught, Nikki turned herself into Hero Corps, who determined researched her history and determined that she was a descendant of Terys, a demi-goddess of Fire and Ice in the universe, and her battle with Iceberg had allowed Terys to enter Nikki physically. Though they believed she was a good person who had only been forced to defend herself, Hero Corps reluctantly placed her in the Zig; the killing of a hero by means of powers one did not understand made her a significant threat to the populace, they said.

Tormented by her actions and the betrayal of those whom she had respected, Nikki's personality gave way to that of Terys. When Lord Recluse's agents appeared to break her out of prison, the angel-voiced young woman had become a villainess of fire and ice.
