Steam Powered Pigeon

Alignment Mission

You find a steam powered pigeon flapping its tin wings in the air before crashing to the ground. You look it over and listen as it begins to bark out instructions.

HAIL LORD NEMESIS (of course, Nemesis),

THE FINAL STAGE HAS BEEN SET. THE ARTIFACT TO BREACH THE SHADOW SHARD HAS BEEN OBTAINED. THE BASE SHALL BE FORTIFIED WITH MORE SOLDIERS, WHILE THE HEROES WILL BE BUSY WITH YET MORE RULARUU. THE VILLAIN MANGLE HAS AGREED TO HELP FINISHING THE RITUAL. ALL HANDS ARE TO REPORT TO THE WAREHOUSE PRINTED ON THE SIDE OF THE BIRD TO ENSURE NO HEROES CAN DESTROY THE ARTIFACT.

Looks like the Nemesis army is planning on unleashing the menace of Rularuu on Paragon to cover their own actions within the Shadow Shard. You figure an artifact with that much power could sell for quite a bit on the black market, especially if it has to do with the Shadow Shard. The one downside is that there's a good chance there are more of these steam powered pidgeons out there, meaning someone else could stroll along and either stop this ritual or get the artifact before you can

Having the forces of Rularuu wander the streets of Paragon would definitely cause an issue with various deals you could have there. If you can get this artifact that the Nemesis army has into your hands, you could sell it for a huge amount of money within the Isles. You'll just have to stop the Nemesis army and Mangle from finishing this ritual in order to make yourself some money!

You look at the steam powered pidgeon and take down the warehouse where this ritual is taking place. Rularuu must not be impressed that his dominion over Earth is trying to be restarted within a warehouse by a bunch of soldiers using steam-powered guns.

Shadow Shard artifact interaction

You open the case to find the artifact you're looking for. It's shaped like a large, disfigured eye. As you reach out to grab it, you hear something move around you. (Look around) You see steam-powered cameras appear, along with a large television screen. All the cameras focus on you, while the screen shows the image of you on multiple television screens throughout Paragon City! It appears the Nemesis army was planning on putting their ritual on for everyone to see. People begin to gather at the television screens, pointing to you. ... Er. The people of Paragon wait in anticipation, wondering what you're going to do with this artifact. You notice there's also a few members of the Paragon Police Department watching as well. You may want to consider putting on an act that you're going to move forward to further stop this Nemesis plot. It'll get you some respect from the people and keep the PPD off of your back. (Explain to the cameras that you're here to save the day) As you finish, you hear someone running forward to attack you! (Say something heroic before leaping into action!)

Stardusk dialogue
Before Combat: Stardusk: You won't be taking this artifact, Character! I've got some bidders waiting on it! Combat Start: Stardusk: Too bad for you that the people backing me are very interested in that artifact. They won't let you take it that easily! Once Defeated / Combat Start: Paragon Protector Elite: Crey will ensure that this artifact will not be put to ill use.

Mangle dialogue
Before Combat: Mangle: What's going on? They're supposed to have that artifact delivered by now! Combat Start: Mangle: Character?! Saving the day doesn't suit you! At 75% HP: Mangle: I won't let you ruin this just so you can gain some good press! At 50% HP: Mangle: You won't get away with this, I know the truth! At 25% HP: Mangle: Urgh... h-hold on a second...!

Mangle conversation

Hold on a second, Character. We can work this out. A deal! I'll pay you good money for that artifact, Character. I have a feeling you won't have enough, Mangle. So you have scruples about who you're going to sell it to?! You know, whoever is going to have that artifact just needs to have the proper ritual to summon in the soldiers of Rularuu! Just give it here and I'll finish it! Sorry, but this artifact isn't for sale. Especially not for you. Give it here, or else Character! (Knock out Mangle) You swiftly knock out Mangle! Job well done, me.

Debriefing

You're greeted outside by the applause of several civilians, along with Gregor Richardson of MAGI, who says he is here to take the artifact back to the MAGI vault. With all the eyes of the civilians and some officers on you, you hand over the artifact with a forced smile.

It's the MAGI vault anyway, you're sure that it'll be back on the market in no time.
