Overview

Force Field is a standard power set that is a primary set for Defenders and a secondary set for Controllers, Corruptors and Masterminds.

"The Force Field powers give you the ability to create shells of energy that protect yourself and your allies from various forms of damage and harm. Force Fields do not reduce damage, but reduces your allies chance of getting hit in the first place."

Powers

ForceField RefractionShield.png Barrier Field

Encases a target in a powerful Barrier Force Field. This power may be used on either an ally or a foe. If used on an ally, this grants them a strong amount of damage absorption for a brief time. The field does not hinder their actions and the protected ally can still move and attack normally. If used on an enemy the target will be captured. The captured target cannot be harmed, is Immobilized, and cannot attack or aid their allies. The target can, however, use powers on themselves. Captured targets are also still vulnerable to Knockback, Repel, and Attract effects from other Force Field powers.

ForceField ContainmentShell.png Containment Shell

Projects a Containment Shell to pull in and capture foes in a targeted location. This hollow force field shell immobilizes and exerts a strong attractive force on any foe that attempts to cross its boundary, pulling them into the shell's interior, though more powerful foes may be able to resist. The attractive force also prevents foes from being pushed out of the shell, preventing jumping, making affected foes immune to Repel effects, and causing Knockback effects to be reduced to Knockdown. Containment Shell's attract effect can still affect a target that has been captured by Barrier Field.

ForceField DeflectionShield.png Deflection Shield

Dramatically protects an ally from Smashing, Lethal and all Melee attacks for a limited time. Also reduces Toxic damage. You cannot stack multiple Deflection Shields on the same target; however, the shield can be improved by another ally using the same power. Can also be used in conjunction with your Insulation Shield. You cannot use this power on yourself.

ForceField DispersionBubble.png Dispersion Bubble

Creates a large bubble which protects all allies inside. While active, the Dispersion Bubble gives all allies within increased Defense against all attack types. The Dispersion Bubble also protects allies from Immobilization, Disorient, and Hold effects.

ForceField ForceBolt.png Force Bolt

Discharges a bolt of force that deals a decent amount of Smashing Damage and knocks foes back a good distance. If the target is currently Flying they will also be knocked out of the air. The target may also be disoriented by the impact, though stronger targets may require multiple impacts to be affected. The force of this attack is so strong that it can also knock down other nearby enemies, though they will not take any damage or be disoriented. Force Bolt's knockback can still affect a target that has been captured by Barrier Field.

ForceField ForceBubble.png Force Bubble

Creates a large Force Bubble which protects all allies inside by weakening and possibly pushing away foes. All enemies within the bubble will have their motions greatly hampered by the force, Slowing their movement and reducing the damage of their attacks, and some will even slip and fall down. If Repulsion Field is also active, enemies that enter the bubble will be Repelled away from its center, forcing them back. This Repel effect can still affect a target that has been captured by Barrier Field. Purchasing Force Bubble also grants the Repulsion Field power.

ForceField InsulationShield.png Insulation Shield

Dramatically protects an ally from Fire, Cold, Energy, Negative Energy, Ranged and AoE attacks for a limited time. The Insulation also protects the target from Endurance Draining effects. You cannot stack multiple Insulation Shields on the same target; however, the shield can be improved by another ally using the same power. Can also be used in conjunction with your Deflection Shield. You cannot use this power on yourself.

ForceField PersonalForceField.png Personal Force Field

The Personal Force Field is almost impenetrable to all attacks, even Psionics and Enemy Teleportation, although attacks from more powerful foes may get through more easily. Personal Force Field will also reduce the damage of almost any attacks that do get through. Personal Force Field does not cost any endurance, and you may initially attack while using it. However, pushing through such a powerful field is taxing, so after 30 seconds your powers will no longer be able to affect targets outside the force field until you deactivate it. Due to the field's power you cannot activate Personal Force Field more often than once every 120 seconds. Cannot be used with Rest.

ForceField RepulsionBomb.png Repulsion Bomb

A powerful Repulsion Bomb is hurled at your foes dealing a moderate amount of damage and knocking them off of their feet. Foes struck by Repulsion Bomb have a good chance to become disoriented.

ForceField RepulsionField.png Repulsion Field

This Toggle power creates a field that repels nearby foes. If Force Bubble is also active, then when Repulsion Field is active it grants a Repel effect to Force Bubble, but has no effects itself. If used on its own, Repulsion Field violently flings away any foes that get too close, at the cost of some Endurance for each foe repelled. Repulsion Field's knockback can still affect a target that has been captured by Barrier Field. Repulsion Field costs no endurance to run, and is automatically granted by purchasing the Force Bubble power.

  • The powerset was significantly reworked as part of Rebirth Issue 5 and was proliferated to Corruptors.
