Dr. Kane's House of Horror (HH) is a Halloween-themed co-op event released as part of the Halloween Event 2011. This trial requires exactly 4 characters of level 15 or greater and can be accessed via the Team-Up Teleporter in the LFG Window, a selection on the Chat Window. High-level characters will be exemplared down to level 29 for this trial.

In Detail

Dr. Kane's House of Horrors takes place on an instanced map and is broken into six phases.

Phase 1: Mysterious Disappearances

Editor's Note: Before any character enters the haunted house, an optional boss may be spawned and fought. First, in the graveyard to the left of the house, speak to the Devil Girl and agree to her pact. Then speak to the Bored Gal and Bored Guy, each in a gazebo on opposite sides of the mansion, convincing each of the pair to eat some candy. Finally, return to the Devil Girl and fight the Black Whip. Devil Girl Dialogue  Initial dialogue: The Black Whip will strike soon. You'll see. After responding, What are you doing? We are sisters of the darkness. We are the ones who will call forth the Black Whip. Would you care to aid us? After responding, Sure thing. What do I have to do? The Black Whip cannot enter this world without, hmmmm, let's call it [sic] sustinance. We've placed harmless enchantments on some of the sweets around here. You can help us by convincing the flies to go to the honey if you get my meaning. After responding, I'll keep my eyes open. So be it. Consider it a pact. When The Black Whip attacks NOOOOOO!! Bored Gal and Bored Guy Dialogue  Initial dialogue: Wow, I'm bored and hungry. After responding, You know, there's a big cauldron filled with candy next to you. That's right! Do you think it's safe to eat? After responding, Well, probably. You should try it. Keep you eyes open, I'm going for it. After eating a donut [sic] Uhg. I don't feel so good.

To enter the house, proceed up the stairs to the front door of the manor. After the Event text "Enter Dr. Kane's Mansion" appears, click on the door to enter.

Outside Dialogue

Barker: Are YOU ready for heart-stopping terror? Barker: Come one, come all! Barker: Enter Dr. Kane's House of Horror if you dare! Barker: Hurry inside! We need more limbs! Barker: Step inside, we need your flesh! Barker: Step right up! Horror awaits you! Barker: You'll have the fright of your life! Barker: You'll pay to see the whole house, but you'll only use THE GRAVE! Costumed Employee: Enter at your own risk! It's your skin after all. Costumed Employee: Welcome to Dr. Kane's house of horror. Step inside for the fright of your life! Haunted House Attendee: Anyone been in there yet? Mr. Mortuary: Anyone who wears a costume for a living may enter free of charge. Go right in.

Phase 2: A Dark and Forlorn House

Up the stairs is a hallway populated with zombies. Defeat (or run past) zombies through the house to reach the basement and find Dr. Kane (for the first time).

Inside Dialogue
Costumed Employee: We will eat your flesh! Haunted House Attendee: I'm not sticking around! Haunted House Attendee: This is TOO real! Reanimated Corpse: Freesh Braaains! Rutha Salk: Oh, great! More costumed freaks just cutting in line. I am SO tired of waiting!

Phase 3: The Madman Himself

In this phase, defeat the zombies which Dr. Kane summons as an ambush. After that, go through the door behind and to the right of the operating table to follow Dr. Kane into the crypts.

Dr. Kane
Dr. Kane: What have we here? More flesh for the taking? Dr. Kane: Let's have a bit of fun first, shall we? Let me introduce you to my pets....

Phase 4: The Madman's Workshop

Defeat (or run past) zombies through the crypt to reach the far platform and find Dr. Kane (for the second time).

Phase 5: Experiment Number Nine

Here, Dr. Kane will spawn an archvillain called Experiment Number Nine, which you must defeat. After that, click on the door behind and to the right of the platform to follow Dr. Kane into the graveyard.

Dr. Kane: Welcome to my underground lair! Dr. Kane: You will make fine playthings for the Abomination... Dr. Kane: But first, meet one of my most prized failures. I call him Experiment Number Nine!

Phase 6: The Abomination

Here, Dr. Kane presents his final creation: the Abomination. This archvillain has two powerful AOE attacks, which are preceded by warning text about "raising his hands" or "raising his foot". Once the Abomination is defeated, trial rewards are given.

During the battle with the Abomination, an optional mission objective exists. The optional task requires the players to defeat 99 zombies and then the abomination within 12 minutes. Zombies are spawned by walking (not hovering) over the graves to either side. Completing this side task grants each player the "It's Alive." badge.

Dr. Kane

After entry to the graveyard: Dr. Kane: That's far enough! Dr. Kane: Into the web stumbles the prey! Dr. Kane: And now for a 'little' surprise. Dr. Kane: Meet my greatest work... Dr. Kane: THE ABOMINATION! During battle with the Abomination: Dr. Kane: What? This can't be happening! Dr. Kane: Abomination! I command you! Eat them! After Defeat of the Abomination: Dr. Kane: You've ruined everything! Dr. Kane: What have you done? Dr. Kane: Do you know how many trick or treaters it took to make that thing?! Dr. Kane: Leave me to my grief! Dr. Kane: I will rebuild him! Just you wait!

Rewards

Is There a Doctor in the House? You braved the haunted mansion of Dr. Kane and defeated his Abomination!

It's Alive! You defeated the Abomination and 99 of Dr. Kane's zombies in under 12 minutes!

Tricked Out You took out the Abomination wearing nothing but a festive Halloween costume!

Successfully completing the event offers a choice of one of three rewards:

• The Murder of Crows costume change emote.
• The Bats Aura costume piece.
• Five random Trick or Treating rewards.
