Your Friend, Sabre, Called

Alignment Mission

One of your contacts in the Feds, code named Sabre, called you today about the individuals you snapped photos of last week outside the club with Captain Anderson. Anderson is the redeemed Sky Raider Captain who is working with Longbow against his old Sky Raider pals. You taped the phone call from Sabre, and this is what he or she had to say:

This is Sabre. Received the ginger-snaps. They're real crisp. They were so good that they reminded me of some old friends; James Weller and Carlos Santiago. Lost touch with them after the Rikti War. Like they disappeared into the sky. As far as I know, they're still up there. I can't share my treats with them, but I think they're working on finding some treats of their own. Send me some more treats later.

You cut through all the double speak and get to the meat of Sabre's message. Captain Anderson is talking to some of his old pals in the Sky Raiders, Lieutenant Weller and Sergeant Santiago. It sounds like the three of them are plotting a job on the down low. Not exactly the behavior you expect for a redeemed man. Especially for one who is working with Longbow to try and take down some of his old comrades. If Santiago and Weller are talking with Anderson, then it's likely that the big operation Anderson is conducting with Longbow is actually a trap!

VILLAIN: Prove Anderson is a double agent to Longbow

Briefing

For the past few weeks, Captain Anderson has been hard at work redeeming himself, even teaming up with Longbow to take his old unit down. It all seemed a bit too good to be true, given his past in the Sky Raiders, so you started doing surveillance on him. You snapped a few pictures of Anderson meeting some people outside of a night club a few days ago. You sent copies of the photos to Sabre, your contact in the Feds, and after a few days received confirmation of your suspicions. Anderson is meeting his old Sky Raider buddies incognito. He's acting as a double agent!

  • Prove Captain Anderson's guilt to Longbow.

Longbow is currently underway on an offensive operation to take down some of the Sky Raiders, using Anderson's intel. It's obviously a trap. You need to get in touch with the Longbow Field Commander and warn him of Anderson's treachery. If that doesn't work, then you'll have to use extreme measures to convince Longbow that Anderson can't be trusted.

Unnecessary Solicitation

Find the Longbow Field Commander and show him the evidence you have against Anderson. If he refuses to pull his men back then you will just have to kill the commander and blame it on Anderson. At least the other Longbow agents will survive, despite their commander's ignorance. You hope it doesn't come to that.

Mission Objective(s)

You listen to the orders being issued over the Longbow operational channel. It looks like the operation has already begun. You can only hope they will listen to you.

  • Prove Captain Anderson's guilt
    • Find the Field Commander
    • Defeat the Field Commander
    • Find Overdrive
    • Speak to Overdrive
    • Defeat Captain Anderson, Withstand the Sky Raider counter attack!

You rescued Overdrive from Captain Anderson's trap, though it cost the life of a senior Longbow commander, it saved the lives of dozens of Longbow personnel. You did what had to be done.

Field Commander Shattuck rescue dialogue

Before combat

Field Commander Shattuck: Bring it, you gutless cowards!
Lieutenant Weller: Don't kill him yet... I want to enjoy this.
Lieutenant Weller: What?! Character!? Get him / her!

Once freed

Field Commander Shattuck: Great timing, Character.

Character. I didn't know you were being sent as backup. I could really use someone of your calibre.
  • I'm not backup, I'm a rescue team. Where's Anderson?
Anderson is leading a team in through the east wing. I have to say, I wasn't sure of him at first, but he has supplied us with priceless information about the Sky Raiders. This entire operation was his brain child.
  • This entire operation was a set up. Anderson played you.
That's some pretty stiff accusations there, Character, do you have proof?"
You show the commander the pictures you took of Anderson outside the club, and then play him the message that Sabre left you, explaining that Sabre is a contact you have in the Federal Bureau.
This is inconclusive. Even if everything these photos and this Sabre say is true, it in no way proves that Anderson is betraying us. Sabre said that Santiago and Weller were missing since after the Rikti War. For all we know they were never a part of the Sky Raiders to begin with. Maybe he was just catching up on old times. The bottom line is, you are jumping to conclusions that prove what you want to be true. You're going to need more concerete evidence of Anderson's betrayal than this before I call this operation off. Do you have anything that proves he is betraying us, or just wild speculation?
  • I do... your dead body.
What? What are you talking about?
  • I blame your death on Anderson and your team lives.

After conversation

Field Commander Shattuck: You're insane! Overdrive will never believe you!

You and Field Commander Shattuck could not come to an agreement concerning Captain Anderson's traitorous actions. You resorted to killing him so that you could pin the murder on Anderson in order to convince Overdrive that Anderson was a traitor.

Overdrive rescue dialogue

Before combat

Sergeant Santiago: Power armor is no match for training and experience.
Overdrive: Really? Show me how training stops this!
Sky Raiders minion: Stop toying with her, Santiago, and help me finish her off.
Sergeant Santiago: We've got company!
Overdrive: Reinforcements. You guys are going to--what's happening?!
Sky Raiders minion: Open fire!
Overdrive: Ugh, armor... shorting out again.

Once freed

Overdrive: Character! You're a welcome relief. Where's the Field Commander?

Overdrive conversation

Speaking with Overdrive

Character? Thank goodness you're here. This mission is totally sideways.
  • Of course it is, Anderson's betrayed you.
What?! But, he's been working with Longbow for months, he helped stop a dozen or more Sky Raider heists in that time. Commander Shattuck trusts him, and that's good enough for me.
  • Shattuck's dead, Anderson killed him.
Overdrive gives you a shocked look and then radios for Commander Shattuck.
"Commander Shattuck, this is Overdrive, please respond. Commander Shattuck, do you read? Damn...
Dead... Character, what are we going to do? If Anderson has been double crossing us the whole time, then we've walked right into a trap!"
  • Anderson doesn't know I'm here, we'll take him out together!
Burned out a power core or not, I've still got enough juice left in my armor to show Anderson a thing or two!
  • Let's do this.

After conversation

Overdrive: I'm okay now, let's get moving.

Sky Raiders ambush dialogue

Ambush start

Jump Bot Incinerator: Destroy!
Jump Bot Incinerator: Destroy!

Assault Jump Bot: Destroy!

Captain: The Jump Bots have failed, it's up to us!
Captain: Attack!

Captain Anderson combat dialogue

Combat start

Captain Anderson: I cannot believe that even Overdrive fell into my trap. Duray was right, they are gullible.
Captain Anderson: Seems someone had the brains to question my loyalties. It took you long enough.

During combat

Captain Anderson: I can't believe you thought I would join Longbow! After what the government did to us!?
Captain Anderson: I am so going to enjoy finishing you off!
Captain Anderson: Damn... You're good, Overdrive... This isn't going as I planned!

Debriefing

Captain Anderson's deceit and lies were finally exposed. Too bad it had to cost the life of one of Longbow's senior commanders. Better for one soldier to die than an entire squadron.
